An Image Based Narrative

This module is focused of the development of image based narratives required to communicate an idea or a story. I was tasked to choose a movement in history and research its core beliefs/ ideologies/ philosophies/ histories and influences.

Concept

In 2016 the internet was surged with young women posting pictures of their body hair in a revolt towards the ‘perfect’ body image that magazines and social media depict.

I decided to chose this movement and make a book of photographed images to visually narrate young women’s struggles with their body image. This books goal is to have a positive impact on younger and older women. It shows that there is no such thing as the ‘Perfect Body’. From stretch marks to pimples, body hair to scars, we should embrace our flaws. I express this by capturing the rawness through photography of six different body types.
